After almost a week of traveling to the different parts of Albania, it was finally time to explore its capital: Tirana. We spent the last two days of our stay here, so we had plenty of time to wander around, enjoy its many monuments, parks, bars, and restaurants this city has to offer.
One Week in Albania: Lake Ohrid & Korçë (Day 5)

Our second-to-last day in Albania brought us to the lakeside town of Pogradec, situated on the banks of Lake Ohrid, and Korçë, a city in the southeastern part of the country. The southeast is quite different compared to the mountains of Valbona National Park: south of Lake Ohrid you will still find mountains, but less rugged and vast.

One Week in Albania: Valbona National Park & Prizren (Day 4)
After enjoying Albania’s beaches, we returned to Tirana for a short night. The next day we would embark on a two-day trip to Valbona National Park, with a detour through the Kosovan city of Prizren. The plan was to return to Tirana on Sunday night, just in time to watch the European Championship 2016 final together with the football-crazy Albanian crowd.

One Week in Albania: The Beaches (Day 3)

The coastal town of Sarandë is a popular resort town in Albania. Plenty of (mostly domestic) tourists visit each year to enjoy its relaxing beaches, tasty restaurants, or take the ferry across to the Greek Island of Corfu. We stayed a full day relaxing and sunbathing in Sarandë, before driving north along the coast, visiting a series of equally amazing beaches.
One Week in Albania: Central Albania (Day 2)

We woke up early, still tired from exploring the north. We were in the countries’ capital, Tirana, and the plan for the day was to drive all the way down south, to near the border with Greece. Along the way, we would stop at various towns and landmarks. We passed through Berat and Gjirokastër, made a detour through the mountains of Çorovodë, before finally arriving in the coastal town of Sarandë.
