Top Foods from Slovenia

After a sweaty 8-hour train ride from Budapest, we were not in the best mood to look for restaurants. Lucky for us, we got a tip that a food festival was taking place at the Central Market Square every Friday afternoon. Strolling through quaint and green Ljubljana, we felt a bit more energized so we went to look for our quick no frills gourmet dinner, and were quite happy what we found.

The Natural Beauty of Slovenia

After visiting the cities of Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, and Salzburg, we figured it was time to broaden our horizon and head into nature instead. And we couldn’t have picked a better place then Slovenia’s Triglav National Park: its extreme greenery, beautiful lakes, and somewhat strange landmarks made for a perfect day out.

Top Foods from Hungary

If there is one particular food item that stands out in Hungary is definitely paprika. Even though the paprika peppers did not originate from Europe, Hungary has really embraced it as their national symbol and an essential spice in the Hungarian kitchen. Its usage is evident in Hungary’s main dishes, however we also tasted some non-paprika items that we thought deserved a try.

A Relaxing Visit to Budapest

From Slovakia we took the train to Budapest, only three hours away. We planned to visit the city on our first day, and enjoy one of the many thermal baths on day two. A perfect plan, as this allowed us to recharge from our busy schedule and many transit days in the weeks prior.
