Greek food is famous all over the world. We already tried some popular Greek dishes in Albania, but luckily the Greek cuisine is quite extensive. Although there are far more delicious items in Greece to try then listed here, the list below might get you started with some absolute must try foods.
A visit to Greece is not complete without a visit to one of its many islands. We visited two of the most iconic islands: Mykonos and Santorini. In Santorini, we explored the islands unique beaches, before heading to Oia to experience what is arguably one of the most photographed sunsets in the world. The next day, after taking the ferry to Mykonos, we strolled through the white streets of Mykonos, before finishing up in style on the beach of Plati Gialos.
Although the Greek islands are quite alluring, you haven’t really seen Greece without exploring its history through the iconic Ancient Greek citadel: the Acropolis in Athens, and Apollo complex in Delphi.
Meteora is a unique this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located in the center of the Greek mainland it is roughly three hours away by car from Thessaloniki and four hours from Athens. Meteora consists of six dispersed monasteries perched on top of jagged cliffs, which make for an incredible sight. The monasteries were built by monks back in the 14th century, and have been beautifully maintained.
